King or split king?
A standard (Eastern) king is 76 by 80 inches; a split king is two Twin XL mattresses (38 by 80 each) side by side, the same overall size. Choose a single king if you both like the same firmness. - Weight. A king foam bed can weigh well over 100 lb in the box. Plan for two people to carry it.
- Frame. Kings need a center support rail and legs. Without them, the middle sags regardless of the mattress.
